CSE announces updated National Advisory Board
CSE has announced updates to its National Advisory Board (NAB) membership and activities. Now numbering 18 members total, a new charter articulates the Board’s charge to “help the Division face current academic and societal issues with the goal of serving the needs of both the university and the students in navigating an evolving industry and educational landscape.”
This Board refresh comes as CSE is one year into implementing its strategic plan and two years before CSE and the School of Information will be co-located in the currently-under-construction Leinweber Computer Science and Information Building. It also comes at a moment in which computing is rapidly transforming society, as social media has changed the information sharing landscape, as computing is linked to climate change, and as AI is poised to dramatically impact education, the economy, and many other aspects of life.
“This has been the right time to reinvigorate our advisory board,” said CSE Chair Michael Wellman. “In addition to ten returning board members who have made significant contributions to date, we now have eight new members who will bring diverse perspectives to bear on the questions we have in front of us.”
In addition to the addition of new members, continuing member Rich Uhlig has been named CSE Advisory Board Chair.
